Elizabeth Davis was born in Henry Co Ky April 7, 1817. She emigrated to Indiana in 1827. She was married to Rev. Reese Davis May 3, 1832. To them were born four children, two sons and two daughters, only one of whom survives her. She had been a member of the Baptist Church for over 60 years, in which she lived a faithful, devoted Christian life. Her final illness was of long and painful duration, which she bore with much patience and willingness, fully trusting in her Master, who said, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee." She departed this life on Tuesday, Oct 10, 1899, her age being 82 years 6 months and 3 days. Funeral services were held at Freedom Church on Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. L.F. Galey. - kbz

Waveland people were saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Davis or "Aunt Betsy" as she was known to nearly all at Crawfordsville on Wednesday. She had been in poor health all summer and her death was not unexpected. She was the widow of the good old pioneer Baptist preacher, Rev. Reese Davis and was long a resident of this place, moving to Crawfordsville a few years ago to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. William Whittington where she died. She was past 83 years of age. She has but one child living, but has several grandchildren, great grandchildren and four gr. gr. grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Freedom Church this afternoon.
